What are the Sexual Side Effects of Alcohol? - April 27, 2009 by support

Sex and alcohol never mix really wellYou wake up in bed next to him. You don’t remember what happened, but you’re both naked. You can only guess what you did. You’re too hungover to think.
Alcohol and sex. When the two are put together, either a positive or negative outcome can occur. However, when alcohol comes into play, negative outcomes are more common. Why do I say this? Let’s take a look.

Alcohol is proven to decrease sexual performance in most males. Though alcohol will impair your judgment, you may or may not have noticed this. Sex actually isn’t as good when you’re both drunk. Then again, how would you really remember? It’s true that your sex drive could go up when you’re drinking, but the performance is less than satisfactory because the alcohol in your blood stream doesn’t create as much of a stimulation for males. In simplest terms, it’s harder for him to get fully aroused when he’s drinking as opposed to full stimulation when he’s sober. It’s better sober.

Another negative effect of alcohol is that rape or molestation can occur. We all know about date rape, and in general we’re told to watch our drinks, alcoholic or non-alcoholic. It’s been stated by law though that consent when drinking isn’t actual consent, because judgment is impaired. When a person is drinking they’re unaware of what’s going on around them; maybe not completely, but their judgment does get impaired regardless. Any man could take advantage of a woman who’s been drinking, because men have the advantage over women who are vulnerable. It’s also easier for sex to be unsafe, whether it’s consensual or not. It’d be scary to wake up after a night of drinking and find yourself pregnant, wouldn’t it? Alcohol may make it easier to let yourself go, but you don’t want to give the wrong idea.

While both alcohol and sex can provide many positive outcomes, the negatives can outweigh it easily. It’s always important to be careful and to be sure that you’re sober if you’re going to have sex. It’s safer, it’s better, and it’s better for you both.
